Second Annual Hudson Blues, Brews & BBQ Festival Expands

Net proceeds to benefit Hudson Athletic Booster Club

Hudson, Ohio (February 7, 2011) – The second annual Hudson Blues, Brews & BBQ Festival organized by Summit Charitable Events Foundation(SCEF) will be held Saturday June 18 and Sunday June 19, 2011 along Village Way in the First & Main Shopping District.

“Due to the excellent response last year and at the request of our vendors and guests we have added a second day to this year’s Festival” comments Brian Hurtt, Event Producer.  “With the added hours we are scheduling more great blues bands and additional activities including barbeque cooking demonstrations and seminars.”

The Festival will kick off on Saturday with a Backyard BBQ Competition where amateur teams compete for trophies, prizes and the bragging rights for “Best Backyard BBQ” as judged by a celebrity panel. Throughout the entire Festival professional barbeque vendors will offer different types of barbeque for purchase as they compete for the “People’s Choice Award” for best barbeque. The “Wet your Whistle Tent” will sell craft and domestic beer as well as soft drinks. While five different bands from northeast Ohio are scheduled to perform 15 hours of great blues music. Retail vendors will be located throughout the Festival grounds offering barbeque products and services.

Admission to the Festival is $5 and children under 18 accompanied by an adult are FREE.

LARCHMERE UNCORKED FEATURES FINE WINES, LOCAL FOOD AND ENTERTAINMENT TO BENEFIT LARCHMERE MERCHANTS ASSOCIATION

Wine and food lovers will converge upon Larchmere Boulevard in Cleveland, Ohio to raise money for the Beautification Fund of the Larchmere Merchants Association, paying for public improvements such as hanging flower baskets that keep Larchmere Boulevard vibrant.

The first annual Larchmere Uncorked, a benefit for the Larchmere Merchants Association.  Running in tandem with the Larchmere Festival, which features fabulous antiques, music, food and flea market finds.

Summit Charitable Events Foundation, producer of the Hudson Wine Festival, and the Larchmere Merchants Association have partnered to hold the first annual Larchmere Uncorked wine tasting event on July 3, 2010 in tandem with the Larchmere Festival.

Noon – 8 p.m.: Over 1,000 guests are expected to sample national and international wines in addition to delectable food prepared by local restaurants.  Wines tasted on site are available for purchase through Heinen’s, the official retail wine partner for Larchmere Uncorked.

Entertainment: The University of Akron Steel Drum Band will play from 12 – 3:30 p.m. and Akin for Jazz will take the stage

from 4 – 8 p.m.

TEAMS NOW BEING ACCEPTED FOR HUDSON BLUES & BBQ FESTIVAL’S BACKYARD BBQ COMPETITION

Net proceeds to benefit Hudson Athletic Booster Club

Hudson, Ohio (May 11, 2010) – Summit Charitable Events Foundation (SCEF), organizer of the June 19th Hudson Blues & BBQ Festival, is now accepting team applications for the amateur barbeque competition portion of the Festival.  Teams can consist of four members and entry is open to area businesses, charitable organizations, families or other groups.

The entry fee is $100 per team and includes a Weber grill, utensils and a meat thermometer, all of which the team may keep after the Festival.  Each team will be provided with charcoal and two half chickens to barbeque on site and teams can provide their own secret spices and sauces to concoct their winning recipe.

Judging will take place at 1:00 p.m. by the Festival’s celebrity panel and prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place based on presentation, appearance and taste.

Following the Backyard BBQ Competition, the Hudson Blues & BBQ Festival kicks off at 2:00 p.m. along Village Way in the First & Main Shopping District with professional food vendors showcasing their BBQ techniques on site as they compete for over $3000 in cash and prizes and for the coveted “People’s Choice Award” for both chicken and ribs. Barbeque food and related offerings will be available for purchase by the public who will vote to determine the winner.

Musical entertainment includes The Bluescasters and the Frankie Starr Band performing from 2 – 8 p.m.  Admission to the Hudson Blues & BBQ Festival is FREE and proceeds benefit the Hudson Athletic Booster Club.
